Cheltenham Festival 2023: Analysis of the hot favourites

Famous Vega is favourite for Cheltenham Festival.

Facile Vega is favourite for the Sky Bet Supreme Novices' Hurdle at the 2023 Cheltenham Festival. He has been sent off favourite on each of his six starts. Facile has already won a Grade One race over hurdles.

Jonbon is going to race in the Arkle Challenge Trophy Novices' Chase on Tuesday.

Jonbon is a novice chaser trained by Willie Mullins. He won the Grade One Close Brothers Henry VIII Novices’ Chase at Sandown. Boothill won a Grade Two Wayward Lad Novice”s Chase over Christmas. Jonbon looks a natural over fences. He is 11-8 favourite for the Sporting Life Arkle Chase.

Constitution Hill is favourite for the 2023 Cheltenham Festival. He was the star of last season's festival. Constitution Hill won the Sky Bet Supreme Novices’ Hurdle last year. Honeysuckle is not expected to be as good as Constitution.

Gillard du Mesnil is favourite for the National Hunt Chase on Tuesday.

Gaillard Du Mesnil won the Neville Hotels Novice Chase at Leopardstown. His trainer, Willie Mullins, won that race with Stattler 12 months ago. Gaillard is a strong traveller and sound jumper. He's likely to be the highest-rated runner in the field.

There is a race at Cheltenham Festival on Wednesday.

The reigning champion, Energumene, is the one they have to beat again in the Betway Queen Mother Champion Chase. He won the Bar One Racing Hilly Way Chase at Cork in December. Edwardstone and Blue Lord are his rivals.

Willie Mullins, Rich Ricci and Paul Townend won the JCB Triumph Hurdle with short-priced favourite Vauban in 2022. Lossiemouth has shown a sparkling turn of foot to win two graded contests since joining Mullin from France.
