Christmas racing schedule: What’s on and where including King George VI Chase at Kempton

ITV will cover 41 races in total over the festive period. The schedule runs from Boxing Day to New Year's Day.

ITV1 will show the King George VI Chase live from Kempton at 2.30 pm. Bravemansgame will be hoping to follow up last year's Kauto Star Novices' Chase win. The Ladbrokes Christmas Hurdle (1.55) features Constitution Hill. Wetherby will also show a William Hill Rowland Meyrick Handicap Chase ( 1.35).

Royale Pagaille's target is to carry top weight in the Coral Welsh Grand National (2.50) at Chepstow. Colin Tizzard won the Welsh National in 2016 and 2018 with Native River and Elegant Escape respectively. Joe is readying Haydock runner-up The Big Breakaway for the race this time around. The action continues at Kempton where the Grade Two Ladbrokes Desert Orchid Chase ( 2.30) will take place.

Leopardstown and Leicester are running on ITV4 on Wednesday December 28th. Savills Chase is the highlight of the Leopardstown Christmas Festival. The three-mile Christmas Hurdle is being run in memory of Jack De Bromhead. Ballymaloe Relish Beginners Chase (2.55) is another race to keep an eye on.

King George VI Chase takes place at Kempton on Thursday December 29th at 12.45-3.30pm. Matheson Hurdle (2.20) is the highlight at Leopardstown. Sharjah will be aiming for a fifth straight win in the Grade One event. Neville Hotels Novice Chase (1. 45) also on the supporting card at the Leopardtown. Festive Family Raceday takes part at Doncaster on ITV4 at 6pm on December 30th.

King George VI Chase takes place at Kempton on Saturday December 31st. Newbury, Warwick and Lingfield have 8 races. The Coral Challow Novices’ Hurdle (3.00) is the annual highlight in Britain on New Year”s Eve. Paul Nicholls has won the race with Bravemansgame and Stage Star in the past two seasons. Hermes Allen, part-owned by Sir Alex Ferguson, could be the Ditcheat representative this term after a nine-length win at Cheltenham‘s November Meeting.

Cheltenham, Musselburgh and Tramore have seven New Year's Day races on ITV1. ITV will also show Tramsore's Savills New Years Day Chase live at 2.15.
