In June 2023, Vermont became the final state in New England to legalize sports betting. Online sports betting goes live in the Green Mountain State on Jan. 11, 2024, just in time for the NFL postseason.

Wagering on sports through computers and mobile devices is legal within Vermont’s borders. The legal age for betting is 21, and you must be physically present in Vermont to gamble on a Vermont-sanctioned betting site. You don’t need to be a resident.

While Vermont has no major league sports teams, it borders New York and Massachusetts, home to high-profile teams like the New York Yankees and New England Patriots.

According to Vermont’s Department of Liquor and Lottery, sports bettors can wager on over 70 sports leagues. You can’t wager on minor league baseball, however, which includes the state’s only professional sports team – the Vermont Lake Monsters.

Bettors also can’t wager on colleges within state lines, such as the University of Vermont.

Best Vermont Online Sportsbooks

Vermont sports bettors have three online sportsbooks to use, and they are among the industry’s best.

DraftKings and FanDuel are very similar betting sites. They’ve been leaders in the daily fantasy sports (DFS) space for over a decade and are the top sportsbooks regarding market share.

Fanatics is a newer sportsbook, launching in 2023. However, it is on par with DraftKings and FanDuel in some ways and even surpasses them in certain areas.

Whether you sign up for one sportsbook or all three, they’re all reputable, well-regarded operators with a wide range of betting markets, payment methods, odds boosts and customer service options.

They also have special offers for new users in Vermont.

DraftKings Vermont Promo

DraftKings offered a special early registration bonus for new customers. New users who sign up for DraftKings in Vermont before the launch date received $200 in bonus bets.

These bonus bets came in the form of eight $25 site credits.

The bonus bets were valid for seven days and can be used on any sports betting market, enabling bettors to explore the sportsbook and try different wager types like moneylines, spreads, prop bets and parlays.

No promo code is required to claim this promotion.

FanDuel Vermont Promo

FanDuel has an even bigger welcome offer for new users in Vermont, allowing new customers to earn up to $300 in bonus bets.

To start, first-time users can claim $100 in bonus bets by registering for a new FanDuel account before the launch date. New pre-registered customers receive $100 in site credit valid for 30 days, which could be used on any betting market.

New users can earn an additional $200 in bonus bets by making a $5 cash wager after sports betting officially goes live on Jan. 11. The $200 in bonus bets are valid for seven days.

No promo code is required. New users could use their bonus bets to wager on sports like the NFL, NBA, NHL, MLB and more.

Fanatics Vermont Promo

While Fanatics (previously PointsBet) is not as well known as DraftKings or FanDuel and did not have an early registration bonus, it still had a unique welcome offer.

New Fanatics users in Vermont can earn up to $200 in site credit within their first five days after signing up.

After registering, new users receive $40 in site credit for each day they wagere at least $10.

So, if you wager at least $10 on three of your first five days after signing up, you receive $120 in site credit.

Site credit can be redeemed as bonus bets at the sportsbook or as site credit on Fanatics.com, where you can purchase merchandise of your favorite teams and players.

No promo code is required and bonus bets can be used on any sports market.
