Cleveland Guardians vs Houston Astros Prediction 6-11-23 MLB Picks

The Houston Astros and the Cleveland Guardians meet Sunday in MLB action from Progressive Field. This will be the finale in a three-game weekend series. The Guardians eked out a win in the opener, then in game two Houston evened it up with a two-run victory. Check back all season long for free MLB picks at Sports Chat Place.

Houston Astros

The Astros scored three runs across the final three innings Friday but it wasn’t enough in a wild 10-9, 14-inning loss. On Saturday Houston scored three runs in the first inning during a 6-4 win. Starting pitcher Jonathan Patrick France put up 6.2 innings with three earned on seven hits and six walks.

As starter for Sunday’s matchup the Astros will go with Brandon Bielak. In seven games (six starts) this year Bielak is 3-2 with a 3.35 ERA and 30 Ks in 37.2 innings. Bielak is 9-9 with a 4.64 ERA in 52 career games (14 starts).

Cleveland Guardians

Over on the Cleveland side, they notched 14 team hits in Friday’s lengthy comeback victory. In game two on Saturday the Guardians were down 5-1 after the fourth and couldn’t get the win. Triston McKenzie managed 5.0 frames in the starting role and had five earned on seven hits and three walks.

Shane Bieber will make the start for the Guardians on Sunday. This year in 13 starts Bieber is 4-3 with a 3.57 ERA and 55 Ks in 80.2 innings. Bieber is 58-29 with a 3.22 career ERA in 126 games (124 starts).

The Astros are 47-15 in their last 62 in game three of a series and 39-19 in their last 58 Sunday games. The under is 6-1 in Houston’s last seven Sunday games.

Meanwhile, the Guardians are 21-7 in their last 28 in game three of a series and the under is 6-1 in their last seven Sunday games. The under is 11-2 in Cleveland’s last 13 in game three of a series.

ANDREW’S FREE PICK

I’ll probably stick with the Astros here. This should be a fun starter battle regardless, though. Bielak has 12.1 innings over his last two starts with four earned on 14 hits and four walks. As for Bieber, he gave up seven earned in 4.0 innings to Baltimore on May 31, but came back with a nice start versus Boston (5.2 innings; one earned) his last time up. On Saturday Houston had a pretty dominant game despite a lot of walks/hits from France in an overall solid outing. I think the Astros take the series with a victory here.
