College football bowl game winners, losers: Georgia, TCU, Tulane shine

Georgia and TCU are going to play in the 2022 national championship game on Monday night in Inglewood, California. The Bulldogs are the overwhelming favorites. TCU was also underdogs against Michigan in Fiesta Bowl. Clemson came within one win of the College Football Playoff but lost to Tennessee in Orange Bowl in which the team was heavily favored.

Georgia and TCU won their college football bowl games. Georgia came back to beat Ohio State, while TCU beat Michigan. The championship game will be played in similar fashion.

Tulane beat Southern California 46-45 in Cotton Bowl. Green Wave went from two wins in 2021 to 12-2 one year later. They came from 15 points down to score the game-winning touchdown pass with nine seconds left.

Penn State beat Utah 35-21 in the Rose Bowl. It was the final game for quarterback Sean Clifford. He threw for 279 yards. The Nittany Lions could have even higher expectations in 2023 behind rising sophomore Drew Allar.

Florida State won the Cheez-It Bowl 35-32 against Oklahoma. The Seminoles finished 10-3 in coach Mike Norvell's third season.

Tennessee beat Clemson 31-14. Backup quarterback Joe Milton played well in place of an injured Hendon Hooker and without star wide receiver Jalin Hyatt. The defense gave up just 4.8 yards per play and allowed Clemson to score just one touchdown on four trips inside the red zone.

Troy's defense helped them to a win against Texas-San Antonio in the Cure Bowl. Troy ended the year on a 10-game winning streak under rookie coach Jon Sumrall.

Michigan lost 51-45 to TCU in the Fiesta Bowl. The Wolverines had a great regular season and won the national championship. Ohio State also lost in a playoff semifinal.

Florida's season ended with a 30-3 loss to Oregon State in the Las Vegas Bowl. Billy Napier's first season as Florida's coach ended in a losing record.

Clemson's quarterback Cade Klubnik had a bad game against Tennessee. The team needs to improve in the offseason to be able to make another playoff run in 2023. There are also issues with the team's receiver corps and the projected loss of several key defenders.

The Big 12 went an FBS-worst 2-6 in bowl play. The only Big12 team to score a bowl win was Texas Tech. The conference champion Kansas State lost to Alabama in the Sugar Bowl. Georgia, TCU and Tulane won college football bowl games.
