Top bowls to catch this holiday season

The college football bowl season has lost some of its luster over the years, but there are still a handful of games that draw the attention from the masses.

Clemson and Tennessee will play in the Orange Bowl on Friday, December 30 at 7 p.m. Josh Heupel's Tennessee team won the SEC this season and reached the No. 1 ranking. The team lost a player to injury and is without a starting quarterback. Clemson will be relying on a fresh face at quarterback with Cade Clubnik replacing D.J. Uiagalelei. Jalin Hyatt will not play for the Miami team as he has declared for NFL draft. He will instead be replaced by Joe Milton.

Alabama lost to Tennessee and LSU by a combined four points this year. The team was ranked No. 5 in the national championship conversation. TCU and USC lost in their conference championship games.

Kansas State earned its bid for the Sugar Bowl after upending TCU in the Big 12 conference championship game. The Wildcats have a solid defense and a stingy offense that plays clock control. Their quarterback Adrian Martinez went down with an injury, so coach Chris Klieman has to rely on Will Anderson and Deuce Vaughn. Alabama's biggest stars, Bryce Young and WillAnderson, have already stated they will play in Sugarbowl.

Big 12 champions will play in the Sugar Bowl on New Year's Eve at 11 a.m. ET.

TCU and Michigan are playing in the College Football Championship Game. TCU won the regular season and is ranked No. 3 in CFP poll. Quarterback Max Duggan earned himself Heisman hype through his steady play. Quentin Johnson is the top receiver for the Horned Frogs. Michigan has a history of losing to Ohio State. Last year, Harbaugh won his first game against the Buckeyes. He followed up with another win against them this season. The game is a key one for both teams. It will decide who makes it to the college football playoffs.

Georgia and Ohio State are playing in the Peach Bowl on Saturday, December 31 at 7 p.m. Georgia won the national championship last year. The Bulldogs have the nation's top defense. Ohio state has one of the best offenses.  The game will pit one team's best defense against another team with a great offense. It will be a good test for both teams. They will play each other in a semifinal. For the time being, Georgia is the team to beat. for the rest of this season. In the past, the Bulldogs won all their games.

Mike Leach, who coached college football for many years, died of a heart attack on December 11. His team, Mississippi State, will play in a bowl in 2022. The team went 8-4 this season. Their opponent, Illinois, went also 8.4. The top five bowls games to watch this holiday season are: - New England, Texas, Washington, Arizona, Nebraska, USC, and Texas Tech.
