College football odds: Spreads for Big Ten matchups in week three

Big Ten football is in full swing this weekend. Many teams are completing their nonconference schedule before diving into conference play.

Mickey Joseph was named interim head coach of Nebraska after Scott Frost was fired. The team is 1-2 after a disappointing loss to Georgia Southern. They play Oklahoma at home.

Indiana is off to a good start this season. They beat Illinois and Idaho in the first week of the season and they beat Western Kentucky in week two. Now they play a home game against a 2-0 Western Kentuckian team.

Purdue suffered a heartbreaking loss to Penn State in week one but bounced back with a 56-0 shutout against Indiana State. The Boilermakers are expected to compete in the Big Ten West. They play a nonconference game against Syracuse, who beat Louisville and dominated Uconn.

Michigan is playing a struggling UCONN team for the third consecutive week. Last week Michigan played Hawaii at home and was favored by more than 50 points. The Wolverines didn't cover against Hawaii with a 56-10 win, but they have another huge spread against UConn. It remains to be seen who will start at quarterback for Michigan.

Penn State will play Auburn in week three of the season. Last year, the game was in State College and Penn State won. The Nittany Lions are off to a 2-0 start this season and are favored by a field goal on the road.

Minnesota is favored by nearly four touchdowns against Colorado. This is the Golden Gophers last nonconference game of the season before they jump into Big Ten play against Michigan State next week.

Wisconsin lost to Washington State last week. New Mexico State is 0-3 this season. Wisconsin has a game against Ohio State the following week, so they have a good advantage.

Ohio State's offense returned to its dominant ways with a 45-12 week two victory over Arkansas State. The Buckeyes finish their nonconference slate with home game against Toledo.

Maryland has won its first two nonconference games. SMU has a phenomenal offense. The over/under for this game is higher than any other Big Ten game this week.

Iowa's first two games of the season have not been pretty. They lost to South Dakota State in week one and were upset by Iowa State 10-7 in the second week. Iowa is favored by over three touchdowns this week, which is interesting, given their poor performance.

Michigan State is ranked as a top-15 team according to the AP Poll and has won two games in a row. The Spartans travel to Washington as an underdog. DraftKings Sportsbook does not have lines for the following matchups: Southern Illinois at Northwestern and Rutgers at Temple.
