College Football Playoff spoilers to watch for down the stretch

Illinois leads the Big Ten West and Michigan is tied for the lead in the East with Ohio State. Michigan State has lost four straight road games. California and Stanford have a combined five games remaining against the four leaders of the Pac-12 pack. Kentucky has two league losses, but has an open date to get healthier for a couple of potential upsets. Notre Dame has some opportunities to salvage their season in their final five matches. They play Syracuse, Clemson and USC. They close at USC (6–1) and close with a game against Notre Notre.

Miami is 3-4 and has lost three consecutive home games for the first time since 2007. Florida State is 4-3 but riding a three-game losing streak. The last time that happened in the same season was in 1947.

Tulane is 7-1 and ranked No. 38 in the country. Willie Fritz earned his car this week. The team is on track for a potential showdown with Cincinnati at the end of the season.

Tom Allen's Indiana team is on a 14-game Big Ten losing streak and is 3-5. They are headed to the basement of the East Division for the second consecutive season.
