College Football Transfers: Who Are The Top Uncommitted Players?

The transfer portal allows college football players to transfer between schools. The deadline for entering the portal is Jan. 18, but names may emerge as late as Jan 20. There are still some players who haven't committed to their schools as of Tuesday.

There are five 2022 starting quarterbacks available. Spencer Sanders is the most highly ranked transfer quarterback. LSU's Walker Howard is a former five-star prospect who red-shirted this year. Washington's Sam Huard is also a transfer prospect. Michael Penix Jr. announced his return to Seattle for 2023.

The top offensive transfer is quarterback. The top tight end is Georgia tight-end Arik Gilbert. The most notable running back transfers are Micah Bernard, Sqwirl Williams and Dominic Robinson. They are the top uncommitted transfer players.

Harvard's Truman Jones is one of the most-coveted defensive linemen. Oklahoma's Clayton Smith and Michigan's Julius Welschof are other coveted edge players available. Ole Miss defensive back Tysheem Johnson is also attracting interest. The Athletic's "Freaks List" has listed Welchoff as one the best prospects in the country.
