Colonel Liam Faces Tough Road to History in Pegasus Turf

Colonel Liam is the defending champion of the Pegasus World Cup Turf at Gulfstream Park. He is a 3/1 morning-line favorite for Saturday's $1 million Grade 1 race. The fourth edition of Pegasus Turfing co-headlines Gulf Stream Park's 12-race Saturday card.

Colonel Liam is the favorite at 7/2. Never Surprised (Post 12) is second favorite. Sacred Life (post 8-6/1), Hit the Road ( post 5-8/10) and Colonel Liam are also in the field. Colonel was injured in June and finished eighth in Grade 1 Manhattan.

Colonel Liam's stablemate, Never Surprised, is going to race in Pegasus Turf. Colonel Liam won the Tropical Park Derby last month. Neversurprized has a two-race winning streak and never finished outside the exacta in seven races.

Sacred Life is one of four Mike Maker-trained horses in the Pegasus Turf. He won the Grade 3 Knickerbocker at Belmont Park last fall. Field Pass won Grade 2 Seabiscuit at Del Mar six weeks later. Cross Border is the most experienced horse in this field with 39 starts.

Hit the Road is seeking his first victory outside California. Space Traveller, March To The Arch, Doswell, and Channel Cat are also in the field.
