Colorado Rockies vs Toronto Blue Jays Prediction 9-2-23 MLB Picks

The Toronto Blue Jays and the Colorado Rockies meet Saturday in MLB action from Coors Field. This will be game two in a three-game weekend series. On Friday in the opener, Toronto posted a high-scoring victory. Check back all season long for free MLB picks at Sports Chat Place.

Toronto Blue Jays

The Jays were able to win two of three versus the Nationals in their last series, capping it off with a 7-0 win in the finale. Toronto got three RBI and two runs from Alejandro Kirk in that one. On Friday versus the Rockies, Toronto had five runs in the seventh inning alone during a 13-9 win. Alejandro Kirk posted three RBI and a run, while Ernie Clement had two runs, three RBI and a homer.

For the starter job in the Saturday game, the Jays are sending out Yusei Kikuchi. Over his 26 starts this year Kikuchi is 9-4 with a 3.63 ERA and 146 Ks in 139.0 innings. Kikuchi is 30-35 with a 4.70 ERA during his career.

Colorado Rockies

Over on the Rockies’ side, they didn’t have any luck in a three-game sweep versus the Braves this week, getting outscored in that trio 24-8. Matched up against the Blue Jays on Friday, Colorado got three RBI from both Nolan Jones and Elehuris Montero to no avail.

Ty Blach will make the start for the Rockies on Saturday. In his 14 games (seven starts) so far Blach is 1-1 with a 3.94 ERA and 26 strikeouts over 48.0 frames. Blach is 1-1 with a 2.86 ERA in his last seven starts combined.

ANDREW’S FREE PICK

I’ll stick with the Blue Jays in this one, but you could make a case either way. Kikuchi has been up-and-down over his last three starts, totaling eight earned runs in 16.2 innings of work without a decision in that time. As for Blach, he’s got six earned runs total over his last three starts in 16.0 frames. It wouldn’t be surprising to see both guys flirt with quality starts here, even in the rare air of Coors Field. It also wouldn’t be surprising to see them surrender 4-5 runs apiece. On Friday the Blue Jays had a great offensive outing, coming back from an early 2-0 deficit with some late life. I like Toronto to keep it rolling in game two.
