Toronto Blue Jays vs Los Angeles Angels Prediction 7-30-23 MLB Picks

The Los Angeles Angels and the Toronto Blue Jays meet Sunday in MLB action from Rogers Centre. This will be the finale in a three-game weekend series. After a three-run Blue Jays win in the opener, on Saturday Toronto kept it up with a five-run victory to go up 2-0. Check back all season long for free MLB picks at  Sports Chat Place.

Los Angeles Angels

The Angels had a pretty tepid offensive evening Friday despite nine team hits, losing 4-1 in the opener. the lone RBI came from a solo homer by Shohei Ohtani. On Saturday in game two Los Angeles was out-hit 10-6 in a 6-1 loss. Taylor Ward had the lone RBI, while Luis Rengifo (run) and Hunter Renfroe each had two hits.

In the starter role for the Angels on Sunday it’ll be Tyler Anderson. Over his 18 games (17 starts) this year Anderson is 5-2 with a 5.23 ERA and 78 Ks in 93.0 innings. Anderson is coming off four earned in 6.0 innings during a win over Pittsburgh.

Toronto Blue Jays

Over on the Blue Jays’ side, they got three hits, two runs and a solo homer from Whit Merrifield in Friday’s win, as well as two hits and an RBI from Bo Bichette. On Saturday Toronto’s Alejandro Kirk managed three hits, two homers, three RBI and three runs during the victory. Whit Merrifield (RBI) and Bo Bichette each had two hits as well.

Jose Berrios will take the mound for the Blue Jays on Sunday. Across his 21 starts this year Berrios is 8-7 with a 3.40 ERA and 117 strikeouts over 124.1 frames. Berrios took a no-decision versus the Dodgers in his last start, giving up two earned in 5.0 innings.

ANDREW’S FREE PICK

I’ll lean toward the Blue Jays in this one. Berrios is doing pretty well pitching lately with five earned runs in his last 16.1 innings total on 16 hits and nine walks. That said, Berrios is just 0-1 in that time; he’ll need a good bullpen effort here. As for Anderson, he’s given up eight earned over his last three starts in 13.1 innings. We could very well see a few early runs from both sides. On Saturday Toronto didn’t really have much going until the fifth inning but they finished strong. The Jays pen was a little overtaxed but things worked out well with 4.2 innings, no earned, two hits, two walks and nine strikeouts. If Berrios can notch a quality start here I think Toronto will be in great shape for a W and a sweep.
