Conn Smythe odds: Jonathan Marchessault's odds are shocking after Game 4

The Vegas Golden knights have taken a commanding 3-1 lead in the Stanley Cup Final.

That means that not only can we start engraving their names in Lord Stanley’s Cup, but the picture of who’s going to win the Conn Smythe Trophy as the NHL Playoff MVP is starting to become a lot more clear.

In fact, according to oddsmakers, one player has become a near lock to win the award.

Let’s take a look.

Conn Smythe Trophy odds

Jonathan Marchessault Conn Smythe favorite

With odds for -500, sportsbooks are giving Jonathan Marchessault an implied probability of 83.33% of winning the Conn Smythe Trophy.

To be honest, I think his chances should be even higher.

He is tied alongside Matt Tkachuk of the Panthers for the most points in the playoffs, but with the Panthers on the brink of losing, Tkachuk hasn’t done near enough to win the award without his team lifting the Cup.

Marchessault has 13 goals as well, which is still (somehow) tied with Leon Draisaitl of the Edmonton Oilers for the most in the postseason.

Finally, he has been hot when it matters most. Through the first four games of the Stanley Cup Final, he has recorded at least one point in every game dating back to Game 1 of the Western Conference Final against the Dallas Stars.

He’s also averaging two points per game against the Panthers.

Unless this series goes the distance and Marchessault’s production completely falls off, he will be your 2023 Conn Smythe Trophy winner.
