Conor McGregor pays incredible gesture to Danni McCormack as SBG star becomes first ever Irish Invicta FC champion

UFC star Conor McGregor paid an incredible gesture to SBG teammate Danni McCormack after she made history at Invicta Fighting Championships 52.

The Roscommon strawweight overcame HUGE early adversity to become the first ever Irish woman to win an Invicta FC title in Denver as 'The Notorious' paid credit to his stablemate.

And it all came together for the Irish talent on in Denver, Colorado on her 33rd birthday!

The Shannon Knapp run all-female promotion is widely regarded as the number one promotion for fighters outside the UFC.

Invicta FC has produced fighters such as Cris Cyborg, Miesha Tate, Raquel Pennington to name but a few.

And it was a night to remember for the SBG fighter as she upset the odds to claim as she took the title from her Brazilian opponent, Valesca Machado.

And her SBG teammate Conor McGregor was quick to congratulate her for the win as he paid her an incredible gesture after she moved her record to 7-2-0.

Taking to social media the former two-division champion said: "Incredible! Danni McCormack just became the first ever Irish Invicta FC Champion! On her birthday no less. Congrats to you Danni, congrats to Coach Kav and congrats to Ireland. We got another one!"

McCormack's won the bout via unanimous decision after nearly getting finished in the opening round.

The John Kavanagh fighter got dropped twice in the opening two minutes of the bout as Machado pilled it all on to try and finish the fight early.

But McCormack should incredible desire and determination kept her in the contest as she steadily began to break the will of the champion.

After the opening round the birthday girl relentlessly pressed 'Tina Black' as she dominated the grappling exchanges, and pressed hard on her opponent against the cage.

Not much changed after the third round as McCormack excelled with a gritty performance, taking down Machado and nullifying her attack, bravely negated the distance in the Championship rounds.

It was more of the same as the challenger took the 115lbs title from her opponent.

The win is likely to set up an all-Ireland clash between the new champion and Dublin native Shauna Bannon.

Tallaght native 'Mama B' fought earlier on the card as she put on a slick display to totally outclass her Finnish opponent.

The Paddy Holohan trained talent produced a slick performance, she showed her diverse skillset from all areas.

The kickboxing world champion constantly looked dangerous on the feet, and showed her solid, patient and smooth control on the deck.

Overall, her all-round strength was big issue for the Finnish fighter as the IMMAF champion cruised to an impressive decision victory.

Another sub-plot to a potential fight between the pair would be in the coaching corners, a bout would pit John Kavanagh up against his former fighter, Paddy Holohan.
