Shaky United there for the taking

Most of Manchester United’s issues this term can be traced back to their defensive issues. Erik ten Hag has bemoaned their injuries at that back, labelling them the reason for their ineffective build-up play.

However, United’s defensive discipline has also been lacking, with the Red Devils conceding a penalty in each of their games so far in this competition.

Copenhagen haven’t been happy to sit back and play the traditional role of minnows in this tough Champions League group. The Danish side had 16 shots on their visit to Old Trafford last month and they should look to be even more adventurous at home.

The hosts took the lead in each of their first two matches in this group. They raced into a 2-0 lead away to Galatasaray, while they struck the opener in a 2-1 home defeat to Bayern Munich.

United have scored one first-half goal across their last six games in all competitions, so Copenhagen have a great chance of striking first on Wednesday.

Manchester United have won just once across their last seven away games in this competition, while they have lost on half of their road trips this term.

Copenhagen may only have one point in this group, but they have impressed in three tough games. They have trailed for just 37 minutes in total in those matches, so they should be able to hold firm having kept things tight at Old Trafford.

United will be without Casemiro, which should mean Sofyan Amrabat steps in. The midfielder has been booked in each of United’s last two games, struggling to make an impact in either of them.

He has picked up three bookings despite making just five starts, so with extended minutes likely for Amrabat, he’s a great option for a card.

This match could produce quite the midfield battle, as Copenhagen’s Lukas Lerager has averaged 1.7 fouls per game in this competition.

The 30-year-old Dane has been booked in two of his three games in the Champions League this season, so back him for another booking.
