Cristiano Ronaldo is absolutely thrilled about the potential of the Saudi Pro League. Having played in the league for the last five months, he firmly believes that it has the power to compete with the top leagues in the world and shine among the very best.

The five-time Ballon d’Or winner has enjoyed a stellar start to life in Saudi Arabia, scoring 14 goals in 15 league games since signing a world-record deal to join Al Nassr in January for an estimated figure of around €200 million per season.

“We are much better and the Saudi league is getting better and the next year will be even better,” Ronaldo told Saudi SSC after Al Nassr’s 3-2 win against Al Shabab on Tuesday.

“Step-by-step I think this league will be among the top five leagues in the world but they need time, players, and infrastructure. But I believe that this country has amazing potential, it has amazing people and the league will be great in my opinion.”

Of course, Ronaldo has tackled and thrived in the biggest leagues in the world. The superstar has put his skills to the test at Real Madrid in LaLiga, Manchester United in the Premier League, and Juventus in Serie A.

According to various reports, a host of big-name players could join CR7 in Saudi Arabia. The most prominent of all is Lionel Messi. There are rumors swirling that Al Hilal have made an offer to the Paris Saint-Germain attacker – worth an alleged €400 million a year.
