Cubs vs Brewers Probable Pitchers

Marcus Stroman (9-6, 2.76) is scheduled to start for the Cubs against Freddy Peralta (5-7, 4.67). Stroman will be pitching on four days of rest and Peralta on five.

Stroman vs Peralta

Stroman has lost his last two starts with an 8.00 ERA. Against the Cleveland Guardians last Saturday in Chicago, Stroman pitched 5.2 innings and allowed five runs, five hits and two walks while striking out seven.

Stroman will be facing the Brewers for the seventh time in his career. He has a 3-1 record and 2.01 ERA against them.

In nine starts on the road this season, Stroman is 4-2 with a 2.70 ERA. He is 4-4 with a 3.27 ERA in eight starts in the day. Stroman, who has NL Cy Young odds of +2000, has registered 14 quality starts in 18 outings, but the Cubs are 10-8 when he pitches.

Peralta is 0-4 with a 5.45 ERA in his last seven starts. Peralta had a no-decision his last time out, giving up three runs and three hits in 5.1 innings against the Pirates in Pittsburgh last Friday while striking out eight and walking two.

In 14 career games (nine starts) versus the Cubs, Peralta is 5-1 with a 3.17 ERA.

Peralta has eight quality starts in 16 outings this season and the Brewers are 7-9 when he takes the mound. Peralta has made nine starts both at home and in the day this season, going 4-3 with a 3.75 ERA at American Family Field and 4-4 with a 4.06 ERA in day games.

Batting Average vs Starting Pitchers

Cubs right fielder Seiya Suzuki is 2 for 6 with a home run off Peralta while left fielder Ian Happ is just 1 for 19 (.053) with nine strikeouts. Brewers shortstop Willy Adames has been tough on Stroman, going 8 for 15 (.533) with two homers but designated hitter Jesse Winker is 1 for 9 with three strikeouts.

Cubs vs Brewers Betting Trends

Mike Tauchman hit a two-run double and scored on a throwing error by third baseman Brian Anderson during a three-run rally in the top of the ninth inning as the Cubs rallied for a victory over the Cubs on Wednesday night.

Suzuki had three hits for the Cubs and Cody Bellinger added two. Shortstop Dansby Swanson left the game in the seventh inning with a left heel contusion and is unlikely to play in a day game Thursday following a night game.

Christian Yelich, Anderson and Andruw Monasterio had two hits apiece for the Brewers. Adames homered.

The Brewers made a slew of roster moves before the game, including activating Anderson from the paternity list and placing first baseman Rowdy Tellez (right forearm inflammation) on the injured list. The bullpen was also shuffled as right-handers J.C. Mejia and Tyson Miller were called up from Triple-A Nashville and left-hander Clayton Andrews and right-hander J.B. Bukauskas were sent to the same club.

Cubs vs Brewers Last 10 Games

The Cubs hold a slight 13-12 edge in the series since the start of last season after the Brewers won 15 of 19 in 2021.

Cubs vs Brewers Prediction

Stroman is having an All-Star season but has struggled lately and is a good fade candidate as a road favorite.
