D-Backs vs Marlins Odds

Odds as of May 1st at Caesars Sportsbook.

Arizona is going with their best arm thus far, Zac Gallen. As for Miami, they will hand Pablo Lopez the ball, who has also been fantastic.

D-Backs vs Marlins Probable Pitchers

Gallen is dominating for the D-Backs in three outings, pitching to a 0.60 ERA in 15 innings of work. In the process, he’s allowed just one earned run and struck out 14 batters. It couldn’t be a better start to the year for the 26-year-old, who will be full of confidence heading into Monday after dicing the Dodgers in his most recent appearance.

On April 27th, the righty tossed six scoreless frames versus LA’s potent offense, while surrendering only two hits. He’s never faced the Marlins though but all three of his starts were against the Dodgers and Mets, two scary lineups. That being said, Gallen won’t be scared of anyone.

Gallen vs Lopez

If you thought Gallen’s ERA was stellar, think again. Lopez boasts an MLB-best 0.39 ERA in four starts, striking out 23 in 23.1 innings and surrendering a mere four free passes. The only run he actually gave up was in his very first outing of 2022 to the Giants. Since then, Lopez has pitched flawless baseball, most recently going six innings vs Washington and allowing just four base runners.

However, the D-Backs hit Lopez hard last season. He posted a 5.79 ERA against them in two appearances. This could potentially be where the 26-year-old slips up.

D-Backs Betting Analysis

Arizona isn’t off to the greatest start, sitting dead last in the NL West with a 10-13 record. They did just split a four-game series with the Cardinals though, but the rubber match on Sunday saw the D-Backs lose 7-5. The bullpen struggled in the series finale, giving up five earned runs once Zach Davies left the game, including home runs to Nolan Arenado and Harrison Bader.

Their pitching staff is one of their strong suits thus far, however, compiling a 3.28 ERA as a team. The offense is really the weak spot for Arizona, hitting an atrocious .181 as a group and registering only 5.7 hits per game. They’re dead last in the Majors in both categories. That doesn’t bode well for the top-tier arm the Diamondbacks will face on Monday.

Marlins Betting Analysis

Miami meanwhile is off to a solid start, sitting in second spot in the NL East with a 12-9 record and going 8-2 in their last 10 games. They just took two out of three from the Seattle Mariners as well but their seven-game win streak ended on Sunday as the M’s beat them in the finale.

Nonetheless, the Marlins are thriving right now and the team will be extremely confident with having Lopez on the mound. The bats continue to show up too, with infielder Jazz Chisholm leading the way. He’s got a .298 average while cranking four home runs. Miami’s MLB win total is set at just 75 for this season but if they keep playing this way, it could be easily surpassed.

D-Backs vs Marlins Prediction

Although Arizona hit Lopez well in 2021, only a few players in their current lineup actually faced him. Between his recent brilliance and how hot Miami is, I have to go with them here to get back to their winning ways. Huge value on the runline.
