Dallas Stars vs Vegas Golden Knights Odds

The Vegas Golden Knights (62-25-10) will try again to put away the Dallas Stars (56-25-18) on Saturday night when they host them as solid home favorites (-135) in Game 5 of the NHL’s Western Conference Final.

The Stars staved off elimination on Thursday with a 3-2 overtime victory against the Golden Knights in Game 4, cashing as -115 home favorites after losing the first three games of the series, two of which were also decided in OT.

Latest Betting Notes: Stars

Dallas still has a lot of work to do in order to get back into this series, knowing that teams in the same exact position down 3-0 in this round are 0-47 all-time. However, the Stars took the first step in Game 4 with a key win, and in previous rounds others have found a way to recover from that deficit four times overall.

Dallas trailed Game 4 by one goal twice before Jason Robertson netted the equalizer two times to keep his team’s hopes alive. Robertson failed to score a goal against the Seattle Kraken in the second round, but he has four this series after tallying a team-best 46 during the regular season. Joe Pavelski stepped up with his first goal of the series as well, scoring the game-winner 3:18 into OT.

Latest Betting Notes: Golden Knights

Vegas was seemingly on its way to a sweep and a second Stanley Cup Final appearance in six years but could not stop Robertson, who took a game-high 11 shots. The Golden Knights surrendered two power-play goals too – both on high-sticking penalties by defenseman Brayden McNabb – including the shot by Pavelski that won the game.

That spoiled another fine outing from goaltender Adin Hill, as he made 39 saves in the losing effort and saw his five-game winning streak end. William Karlsson and Jonathan Marchessault scored the team’s two goals, raising their team-leading totals to eight each.

The Keys to Victory: Stars

Dallas must play one more game without captain Jamie Benn, who was suspended two for a major penalty on Vegas captain Mark Stone. Robertson and Pavelski came up big in Game 4 while goalie Jake Oettinger made 37 saves to earn his first win of the series.

The Stars need to get more contributions from other players though if they are going to win in this spot and send this series back home for Game 6. Luke Glendening is a player to watch as he fills in for the injured Evgenii Dadonov (lower body) along with Max Domi.

The Keys to Victory: Golden Knights

Vegas simply cannot afford to see this series extended any further with the Florida Panthers waiting in the Stanley Cup Final. The team’s former head coach Pete DeBoer helped the San Jose Sharks rally back from a 3-1 series deficit to defeat the Golden Knights in seven in the first round four years ago with Pavelski as his captain then.

DeBoer and Pavelski are now obviously leading the Stars in a similar situation, and they will continue to take a one game at a time approach here. Vegas came very close to ending this series in Game 4 and needs to use the home crowd to its advantage in Game 5.
