Dana White's Contender Series picks: Week 2 Season 7 odds, predictions

Dana White’s Contender Series Week 2 kicks off on Tuesday night for five more fights as athletes look to punch their tickets to the UFC.

Last week we hit a +220 underdog to make profitability in the first week of Dana White’s Contender Series Season 7.

Tonight, we target some more low-level MMA that could make for some fun, entertaining bets.

Dana White’s Contender Series

Abdul-Kareem Al-Selwady vs. George Hardwick

The main event for tonight’s fight card takes place at the lightweight division where George Hardwick comes in as a -400 favorite.

A well-rounded 12-1 fighter is also the top ranked lightweight fighter coming out of England.

Both of these fighters are solid but Hardwick is a true blue-chip prospect and Al-Selwady has been finished twice in the first round in his career.

Hardwick should win this one by KO/TKO (+107, BetRivers).

Eduarda Moura vs. Janaina Silva

Not anywhere near of enough information to go off of in this fight to really bet it.

These two undefeated Brazilian women face off and would favor Moura’s grappling but with only 13 fights (all wins) between these two fighters, target other fights with your money.

Hyder Amil vs. Emrah Sonmez

LFA’s Hyder Amil is a true brawler in MMA — he loves to move forward and get in his opponent’s face.

Frankly, I hate that strategy for this situation at Dana White’s Contender Series, as Sonmez will also be looking to get a finish.

At +185 on BetRivers, he’s a guy to target tonight on the moneyline as a very solid grappler.

Paulo Renato Jr. vs. Ibo Aslan

A battle between big boys in the light heavyweight division as Ibo Aslan comes in as a size bully opposite Paulo Renato Jr.

Aslan is 6-foot-3 with all 11 of his wins coming by knockout and he is extremely powerful in both leg kicking and with his hands.

Renato is a tough opponent for Aslan as he’s never been knocked out and has also been competing in legitimate kickboxing promotions on the regional scene.

Renato has also fought UFC-level competition — he lost to Jamal Pogues on the Contender Series last year.

He knows the pressure that comes with this event and should be much more trustable in tonight’s matchup.

Grab his moneyline price at +120 on FanDuel and watch him go to work.

Cameron Smotherman vs. Charalampos Grigoriou

A striker, Cameron Smotherman faces Charalampos Grigoriou in a battle between bantamweights.

Smotherman does not enjoy grappling in any sense of the word, he wants to strike before anything and if any grappling is involved in his fights, he will struggle.

In comes Grigoriou, who isn’t the best grappler in the world, but should look to utilize the skill if he wants to come in and get a victory.

Smotherman has serious knockout power, winning his last two fights by knockout.

But what concerns me are his decisions.

He has been to five decisions, winning three, but two of those three were split-decisions, which is at least a little concerning in that at least two judges believe he could be 1-4 in fights that go the distance.

We’ll back the underdog here in Grigoriou to hopefully utilize his leg kicks and grappling to carry him to victory.

The best line by far for this fight is at Caesars, +145.
