Darts Premier League 2023 Night 6 Preview

The Premier League Darts 2023 season kicks back into gear in its familiar Thursday night slot for round six of action. On March 9th, the players will head to the M&S Bank Arena in Liverpool with just over a third of the regular season done and dusted.

Premier League Darts Night 6 Date and Time

Night 6 of the 2023 Premier League Darts is from the M&S Bank Arena in Liverpool. Kick-off in the first match of the evening, which is Gerwyn Price vs Peter Wright is at 7:10 pm.

There will be a total of seven matches on the night in the knockout bracket format in which league points are played for.

Fans will be able to tune in to the live action on Sky Sports or through PDC TV. A subscription will be needed to view the darts action on either of those platforms.

The 2023 Season So Far

Reigning champion Michael van Gerwen has set a hot early pace at the top of the regular season standings in the 2023 Premier League Darts. Back-to-back wins on Nights 4 and 5 saw him open up a six-point lead at the top of the tree.

Michael Smith, a winner on Night 3 and Nathan Aspinall who has had a good consistent season without a weekly win, are locked on 9 points behind Van Gerwen. The final spot in the top four at the end of the Night 5 action in Exeter was held by Gerwyn Price, who is still looking to add to his Night 2 success.

At the bottom of the table, things have not improved in this tough season for Peter Wright. Snakebite remains without a single-match victory in this campaign. Will the sixth round of action be the one where he breaks his duck?

Gerwyn Price vs Peter Wright

At the top of this week’s Premier League Darts draw is this fascinating duel between Gerwyn Price and Peter Wright. Things just haven’t got going for Wright, the Scotsman unable to get off the mark. Snakebite goes as the underdog in this fixture against Price, who hasn’t been in the hottest of form himself.

Price was hammered by Wright earlier this year at the Nordic Masters, but the overall head-to-head stands at 5 wins apiece in the last ten meetings. Price claimed the honours in the Final on Night 2 this season and was a runner-up on Night 4. He’s carrying the better form, but Wright will know that he badly needs to start picking up results which could make him dangerous.

Michael van Gerwen vs Jonny Clayton

The man with all the momentum behind him in the Premier League Darts season at the moment is Michael van Gerwen. Having claimed back-to-back weekly victories, he is the one to catch. That’s never an easy thing to do and Mighty Mike looks to be enjoying his darts at the moment and scoring heavily. MVG is on a league-leading 99 three-dart average in this season’s Premier League.

Jonny Clayton will be out for some revenge having lost the Night 5 Final to Van Gerwen. Clayton actually leads the head-to-head 5-3 against MVG in their last eight meetings, but this could still be a big uphill battle for him.

Chris Dobey vs Nathan Aspinall

Full-season debutant Chris Dobey opened the season in style by being the Night 1 winner at the season opener in Belfast. But the reigning Masters champion hasn’t been able to back that up, having lost all four of his matches in the league since then.

On Thursday in Liverpool, he squares up to Nathan Aspinall who has only failed to make it past the quarter-finals once in this campaign. Being crowned a Night winner has so far eluded The Asp, but this could be a chance for him to take a step towards changing that.

Michael Smith vs Dimitri Van den Bergh

At the bottom of the draw for Thursday’s Premier League Darts fixtures is Michael Smith vs Dimitri Van den Bergh. Smith has been a Night winner this season, back in round 3. This is his home leg of the Premier League season and will likely be fired up on the night because of that.

He takes on Dimitri Van den Bergh in what could be one of the closest matches of the night. The Belgian has held his own well this season in the league but hasn’t quite been able to post the heavy scoring that Bully Boy has laid down, which may just trip him up.
