Dave Matter's SEC college football Week 6 predictions: Can Vols survive Death Valley?

It's the first day of SEC football. There are seven games, 14 teams. We predict Mizzou's win over Tennessee on Friday.

The Vols take on the Game of the Week at 11 a.m. on ESPN.

Tennessee is favored by 2 ½ points at the betting line.

Tennessee is playing at LSU in the SEC college football Week 6. The game is played after a bye week. LSU has won the last five meetings. Tennessee is an away favorite for the fifth time in last six years. It's the second time this season Tennessee has been a favorite.

LSU and Tennessee are going to play each other in the SEC Championship Game on Saturday. Turnovers are crucial for both teams. Tennessee's offense travels well. UCF's offensive line was more explosive on the road than at home.

Mississippi State is favored to beat Tennessee in the SEC college football game.

Arkansas' defense is struggling. Barry Odom's team has forced just one turnover in the last three games. The team is allowing an SEC-worst 6.4 yards per play. Mississippi State averages 45 points per game at home.

Georgia is favored to beat Tennessee in the SEC college football game.

Bryan Harsin is the interim head coach at Auburn. Georgia struggled to put away Kent State and then needed 55 minutes to wake up at Mizzou. The Tigers' one-dimensional offense might be lucky to score against Georgia.

Ole Miss is 7-0 and the defense is good.

Kentucky is favored to beat Tennessee in the SEC college football game.

Kentucky has won seven of the last eight meetings. The Wildcats have covered the spread in eight of last nine games. South Carolina is winless in SEC road games under coach Shane Beamer.

The Vols take on the Death Valley Cardinals at 7 p.m. on CBS.

Alabama is favored to beat Tennessee in the SEC college football game.

Alabama will beat Texas A&M 45-17 in the prime-time game. The Aggies haven't lived up to expectations.
