Tennessee has an opportunity to end Georgia’s undefeated season on Saturday afternoon at Neyland Stadium, where the Volunteers have won 14 straight games, last losing at home in 2021.

Get ready for championship weekend by reading our SEC Championship Alabama vs. Georgia odds preview.

Had the Volunteers won and the Bulldogs lost in Week 11, this matchup would’ve decided which team represents the SEC East in the conference championship.

Instead, Tennessee laid an egg, losing to Missouri 36-7, while Georgia handled Ole Miss convincingly in a 52-17 victory.

Time will tell how much fire the Volunteers play with on Saturday now that spoiling Georgia’s season is its only motivating factor. There’s no doubt Kirby Smart’s team will be up for the game, with the Dawgs continuing to claw for College Football Playoff positioning.

When Tennessee visited Sanford Stadium in 2022, Georgia squashed the Vols’ undefeated season. Hendon Hooker was held to 195 yards, zero touchdowns, and one interception in the 27-13 setback.

Tennessee’s best offensive attribute is its rushing game, averaging the fifth-highest yards per game in P5. In the Week 11 defeat vs. Mizzou, the Volunteers gained only 83 yards on the ground in the blowout loss.

Now, Tennessee must regroup and try to establish the run against the most physical defense in the SEC. Georgia has allowed opponents to gain just over 100 rushing yards per game.

We’re putting our faith in the Bulldogs to cover the spread because UGA has much more at stake than the Vols. However, one thing to consider is that in Georgia’s only road game in a hostile environment, the Dawgs squeaked out a 27-20 win at Auburn.

Carson Beck has exceeded all expectations in his first season as a starter. In his last three games, the Florida native has a 6-to-1 touchdown to interception ratio.

Much of Beck’s success is thanks to Georgia’s ability to extend drives on third down. The Bulldogs converted 62% of its third down tries last week vs. Ole Miss, allowing the offense to stay on the field while Beck racked up 306 yards and two touchdowns.

Watch for a similar formula to lead Georgia to success in Knoxville.
