Detroit Pistons vs. Washington Wizards Prediction, Preview, and Odds The Detroit Pistons are traveling to Washington after their loss on Friday against the Houston Rockets with a final score of 110-112. This was a close game for Detroit which is something that is new for them in recent games. I am not a fan of the Pistons but honestly, I always hope they get wins. The team has just been sad this season only generating 111.3 points per game. They are just struggling shooting the ball with a three pointer shooting percentage of 34.4% and a field goal shooting percentage of 46.9%. While they do struggle on offense, they are able to find some success at rebounding the ball with an offensive rebounding ranking of seventh in the NBA.

On defense the situation becomes worse as the Pistons are 27th in points allowed per game, allowing 122.7 points per game. Now I will admit that the Pistons are doing well defending against three pointers where their opponents are only averaging 11.7 per game. That however is the end of the positives for the Pistons on defense. Detroit is allowing the sixth most field goals per game at 44.4. They aren't even trying for turnovers as they are second to last in steals and fourth to last in blocks.

Detroit is still without their two top players as Cade Cunningham is out with a knee injury until late January and Bojan Bogdanovic is questionable due to a calf injury. Cunningham leads the team in points per game at 22.8 and Bogdanovic is right behind him with 19.8 points.

The Washington Wizards are returning home after their win on Saturday to the Atlanta Hawks with a final score of 127-99. This was a much needed win for the Wizards as they were on a six game losing streak. It is no wonder why the Wizards have been losing when we look at their defense. Washington ranks dead last in points allowed per game, allowing 125.2 points per game. The Wizards are doing nothing right on defense this season. Washington is last in defensive rebounds, second to last in field goal attempts allowed, and last again in field goals against.

Thankfully the Wizards are finding some success on offense even if it means them being average. Washington ranks 16th in points per game averaging 115.5 points per game. While their poor rebounding transfers over onto offense with them ranking 28th overall in offensive rebounds. The Wizards are ninth in field goal attempts and field goals made per game.

The Pistons are too injured offensively to make an impact into the over. We just saw how the Wizards were able to keep one of the top offenses in the league with Atlanta under 100 points in their last game. The Wizards are being a lot more defense focused and I can not see a world where the Pistons hit over 110 points in this game let alone 100. Likewise, I do not think the Wizards are going to put up anything over 125 or 130 points in this matchup. When we take both teams averages on offense and defense in their last three games, home/away, and on the season we get a projected total of 237.

I am siding with the under at 240.5.

Prediction: Under 240.5 ( -110 )
