Detroit Tigers' 2022 World Series ties a reminder of glory days
The Detroit Tigers haven't won the World Series since 1984. They have made two appearances since then, in 2006 and 2012. The 2022 Fall Classic starts Friday. Philadelphia Phillies' front office is led by Dave Dombrowski, who also built the Tigers' rosters for those '06 and '12 runs. Two players in this year's World Cup are from Detroit. Justin Verlander and Nick Castellanos are also from the Detroit system. The Phillies have a lot of ties to the Toronto organization. Tommy Thomson played for the Tiger's farm system and was a coach. He was hired by the New York Yankees in 1990.
