Dodgers Rumored Trade Target Bryan Reynolds Could End Up Staying in Pittsburgh for a Long Time

A potential trade target for your Los Angeles Dodgers could be off the table soon. MLB insider Jon Heyman reported that the Pittsburgh Pirates are trying to extend outfielder Bryan Reynolds before the season starts.

In this past offseason, the Dodgers were among the teams in on Reynolds. The Dodgers were (or still are) in need of outfield reassurance, as throughout the entire offseason, LA did all they could to get some outfield depth. Reynolds would have been excellent for the Boys in Blue as he is a career .281 batter and has 74 home runs, 239 RBIs, and 500 hits in a span of four seasons. The one-time All-Star has spent his entire career in Pittsburgh and even requested a trade in early December.

The odds of Reynolds accepting an extension are quite low. The Pirates have refused his request, which is the right thing to do on the team side of things, but at the same time, the Pirates aren’t doing much to help him out. The Pirates’ price for Reynolds was extremely high, and no one was willing to pay for it.

Pirates insider Justice delos Santos tweeted that the switch-hitting batter said there is no significant development on the extension front. I’ll be surprised if an extension happens and if he is traded at the end of it all. Pittsburgh seems stubborn in this situation and will do whatever it can to keep the 28-year-old.

The Pirates outfielder will be an unrestricted free agent come 2026.
