Durban July goes ‘purple' with new sponsor as stakes also increase

Hollywoodbets will be the new headline sponsor for the Durban July. The race will enjoy a prize increase of 250 percent over the 2021 offering and will carry a record stake of R5 million. It will also be recipient of a major stakes injection of R13 million from KZN racing operator, Gold Circle. Grooms Initiative has already put almost R2 million into the pockets of the industry since the launch in 2019. The awards for Groom of winning horses will increase from R1, 000 to R 2,000 per race.
