Wigan vs Charlton predictions

(7.45pm, Tuesday)

Three successive 2-0 wins have moved Wigan out of the relegation zone and trending in the right direction, albeit they are still 12 points shy of the play-off places.

An eight-point deduction has meant the Latics have been playing catch up all season and they’ll need to keep stacking up the victories if they are to bounce back to the Championship at the first time of asking.

This will be Wigan’s third home game in a row and they impressed in the victories over Oxford and Shrewsbury at the DW Stadium.

Forward Callum Lang made his return from injury in the latter of these games and boosts a frontline which has been in good form, despite the absence of topscorer Charlie Wyke.

Wyke has been left out of the squad for the last two games but could be recalled against Charlton, who head to the north-west having been well beaten by Bolton at the weekend.

After a good start to his time in charge, Michael Appleton’s team have lost their last two games and appear to be struggling to create chances without the injured Chuks Aneke.

Aneke is facing a couple of months out with a hamstring injury and without him, Appleton's talented but inexperienced charges face an uphill battle to get into the play-off fight.

The Addicks will need to improve their away form if they are to figure in the promotion race.

Charlton have failied to win a single game in any competition on their travels this term and their last road assignment in League One ended in a 3-1 loss to Lincoln.

Wigan should create plenty of chances against a fairly open Charlton side and odds of 6/4 with bet365 further boost the appeal of backing them to make it four wins on the spin.

Wycombe vs Cambridge predictions

(7.45pm, Tuesday)

Wycombe have a good opportunity to end a run of three games without a win when they host a shot-shy Cambridge side.

The Chairboys were frustrated by Oxford’s late equaliser in an entertaining 2-2 draw on Saturday which featured three penalties.

Cameron Brannagan’s 96th-minute spot kick denied Wycombe all three points but boss Matt Bloomfield has been able to find plenty of positives during their winless run.

Wycombe have played three of the top five in those fixtures and have more than held their own, scoring twice in each game.

A home clash with Cambridge looks a far more winnable fixture, even with the U’s having collected their first win since the start of September when defeating Carlisle at the weekend.

But that victory came at home, where Cambridge have collected 15 of their 19 points, while results on the road have left a lot to be desired.

Mark Bonner’s team have four points and four goals from six away matches and even though Wycombe have conceded eight goals across the last three games, Cambridge carry far less of a threat.

The Chairboys need to be winning games like these if they want to seriously challenge for promotion and can record a routine success.

Barrow vs Morecambe predictions

(7.45pm Tuesday)

Morecambe have powered into the League Two play-off places thanks to a seven-game winning run and they head to Barrow having won their last four league matches.

The goals have been flowing for Derek Adams’ side, who scored four against AFC Wimbledon at the weekend. Michael Mellon scored a hat-trick in the win, taking his tally for the season to nine.

The Shrimps have won their last three away games in League Two and recently turned over Barrow 3-1 at home in the EFL Trophy.

Barrow at Holker Street is another matter with the Cumbrians unbeaten at home this season, albeit they’ve drawn four of their six league games.

Barrow have failed to score in their last two games at Holker Street, while Morecambe did win on their last visit.

The extra firepower the Shrimps have makes them a strong option to avoid defeat at even-money with Betway.
