Punter turns 30p into £22k with incredible 74,000/1 accumulator on 13 matches

A fortunate bettor turned 30p into over £22,000 by correctly predicting the results of 13 matches in the Championship, League One and League Two on Saturday afternoon

Ryan Edmondson's 96th-minute goal saw the bet come in

A lucky punter enjoyed a fantastic weekend after seeing a spectacular longshot 30p bet win £22,000 thanks to a 96th-minute winner.

Correctly predicting 13 results, across the Championship, League One and League Two, is a tall order in a very unpredictable season in the Football League. But one bettor was not dissuaded from giving it a go and reaped the benefits.

Placing the outside bet with William Hill, the punter must have felt their chances were slim, at best, when seeing the resulting odds of 74,600/1. Yet, checking back later after the matches had finished on Saturday, they realised they had pulled off the miraculous to net a staggering £22,380.08.

Seven home wins, four away wins and two draws were nailed to record the kind of result all punters dream of. While some of the bets were safe ones – backing in-form Middlesbrough to beat Swansea and Bristol Rovers to beat League Two strugglers Forest Green – others were a bit more risky.

The pick for Barrow’s home game with Sutton to end as a draw was inspired, with just one shot on target coming in the entire match at Holker Street. Meanwhile, Exeter came from behind against Lincoln to win 2-1 in a battle of the two League One mid-table sides.

But the real drama came at the County Ground where Carlisle snatched a 96th-minute winner to beat Swindon 2-1 and ensure the bet came in. The visitors took the lead through Jack Armer in the 51st minute but were pegged back when Tyrese Shade equalised for Swindon in the 80th minute.

Up stepped Ryan Edmondson to score the winner at the very death to give the Cumbrians a happy trip home and the punter the money.
