England and Australia are used to heading into Rugby World Cups as favourites, but the bookies have given both sides just a 14/1 chance of lifting the trophy after their dismal spells leading into the tournament.

Steve Borthwick's men, who take on Argentina in their first World Cup match on Saturday, are shot for confidence after losing five of their last six matches, and the Wallabies aren't much better having been defeated in their last four internationals under Eddie Jones.

Sky Bet's selected odds for the Rugby World Cup

England to win the tournament: 14/1

Australia to win the tournament: 14/1

Wales to win the tournament: 33/1

Fiji to win the tournament: 80/1

Argentina to win the tournament: 22/1

Scotland to win the tournament: 33/1

England to reach the final: 13/2

Australia to reach the final: 9/2

England and Australia have been given long odds of 14/1 to win the 2023 Rugby World Cup

New Zealand, France, South Africa and Ireland have all been given shorter odds than England and Australia to lift the trophy, with the All Blacks favourites at 11/4.

England, who lost the World Cup final against South Africa in 2019, are 13/2 to reach the last two again, while Australia are 9/2.

Argentina have slightly longer odds than England and Australia with a 22/1 shot of winning the tournament outright, while Fiji - who beat England 30-22 last month - have been given 80/1 odds by the bookies

Meanwhile, Scotland and Wales have both been given an outside shot of 33/1 to lift the Webb Ellis Cup in Paris.
