Europa League Winner Odds: Liverpool Remain 7/2 Favourites

Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool have shortened in price to remain as the betting favourites to win the Europa League this season following their Matchday 1 victory away at LASK.

The Reds have won this competition on three occasions in 1973, 1976 and latest in 2011 – they came close in 2015/16 when reaching the final, but fell to defeat against European experts Sevilla.

After disappointment from falling out of the Champions League spots by finishing fifth in the Premier League last season, Liverpool know this is a competition they have to win.

According to Europa League betting sites, the Merseyside outfit have shortened to 3/1 to lift the trophy in Dublin next year – long clear of the joint-second favourites of Roma, Brighton and Bayer Leverkusen at 14/1.

Roma got off to a winning start on the road against Sheriff, Brighton fell to a shock defeat by AEK Athens and Bayer Leverkusen beat BK Hacken 4-0 in an emphatic victory.

West Ham are 16/1 and came from behind to earn three points in their opener against TSC, in which new signing Mohammed Kudus bagged his first goal for the club.

Atalanta and Rennes hold odds of 18/1, handed a slightly better chance than Sporting Lisbon and tournament veterans Villarreal.
