Everton can drag Crystal Palace right back into the relegation mix with a win at Goodison Park on the Monday Night Football

Everton boss Sean Dyche

After a dramatic week for Crystal Palace, largely due to an impending management change, the Eagles must now focus on their next Premier League fixture.

This Monday Night Football tie sees Palace travel north to Merseyside where they are set to play Sean Dyche’s Everton side at Goodison Park.

This is the fourth time in just four months that these sides have gone head-to-head, so it is not as if they are strangers to one another.

Palace have been unable to defeat the Toffees in any of the three previous attempts so Everton may host this tie with a slight amount of confidence when going off previous form.

Everton remain in the relegation zone as it stands and a win here would prove vital in their hopes of survival in the league (3/1 to be relegated on Ladbrokes).

Furthermore, victory for the hosts would also see them pull today’s opposition down the table bringing these two sides just two points away from one another, subsequently increasing the pressure of relegation on this Palace side.

Just five fixtures back, Everton were able to see out a relatively equal 1-0 win against today’s visitors. Both sides appeared to be well matched given the fact they had an equal amount of shots, shots on target and just a 1% difference in possession on the day.

Thanks to a goal from Andre Gomes, the Toffees were able to progress to the next round of the FA Cup and will now want to repeat this sort of result now they return to the league.

Everton vs Crystal Palace Prediction

Only a single goal was scored during the last two games where these sides went head-to-head. This appears to be from a lack of creativity from Palace, combined with the gritty style that Sean Dyche is renowned to adopt.

Crystal Palace have only averaged 1.13 goals scored per game (all competitions) so far this season, and with Everton conceding an average 1.17 goals (at home) there’s no surprise the scoreline remained minimal last time out.

Palace appear to be feeling the effects of their growing injury list at the moment. Their previous fixture vs Chelsea saw them dominated for the majority of the tie and apart from the goal by Jefferson Lerma, against the run of play, the Eagles were unable to create too many chances.

This will bode well for today’s hosts, who not only know how to defend but also know how to score. Everton were able to dampen the City offence last time out, maintaining a clean sheet in the first half before conceding two goals in the final 20 minutes.

Given the nature of both sides, I see this game being relatively low scoring. If a goal is to be scored, the scoring side will shut up shop to try and claim on to points they so desperately need.

Everton are the 8/11 favourites to beat Palace (21/5 underdogs on Ladbrokes) on the Monday Night Football at Goodison Park. Backing the draw pays a best price of 11/4.

Everton vs Crystal Palace Tips

Everton to win ‘to-nil’ @ 33/20 (Ladbrokes)

Much like their previous head-to-head, I can see Everton walking away from this affair with all three points and a clean sheet. Goodison Park should give them the necessary boost to help them see off today’s visitors.

In typical Sean Dyche style, I can see the Toffees scoring a single goal and then closing the doors on the Palace offence.
