Beto pursuit, Joaquin Correa competition, Dominic Calvert-Lewin fitness latest

Hello and welcome to the ECHO's dedicated Everton FC news and transfers blog for Thursday, April 20.

In the midst of their scrap against relegation, Everton have been handed a huge boost by talisman Dominic Calvert-Lewin as he dropped a major hint that he could return against Crystal Palace on Saturday afternoon. Calvert-Lewin has been missing since February with a hamstring problem.

He started Sean Dyche's first game at the helm - a surprising win over Arsenal - and this week he stepped up his recovery with a friendly match appearance on Tuesday afternoon. Calvert-Lewin followed up with a social media post to send fans the message they have been waiting to hear.

With one eye on the summer transfer window, meanwhile, reports suggest the Blues will face competition to sign Inter Milan strike Joaquin Correa from Aston Villa, West Ham United and other Premier League suitors. He is among several attacking players being linked with the Goodison Park outfit.

Kevin Campbell makes Amadou Onana transfer claim

Everton midfielder Amadou Onana has been linked with a move away from the club.

However, former Everton frontman Kevin Campbell sees no reason why he should leave.

Here's what Sky Sports pundit Campbell had to say about the impressive Belgian;

I don't think that he's going anywhere to be honest with you. I think the opportunity came in January even for him to leave the club and he said no, he's staying. He loves it at Everton to be honest, loves the fanbase. He's got a manager there who believes in him because he's starting every game.

Miserable away form

Everton face an uphill battle when thery take on Crystal Palace on Saturday, most notably because the match is away fromh ome.

The Blues have played 15 times away from Goodison Park this term and have recorded just the one win when they beat Southampton 2-1 back in October.

Everton have scored just 10 times on the road this season while conceding 26.

DCL update

Dominic Calvert-Lewin is 'in the thinking' for Sean Dyche ahead of Everton's Premier League clash away at Crystal Palace on Saturday afternoon.

Everton are needing points in order to keep their top flight status in check after losing to Fulham last time out in the league.

The Blues are currently in deep trouble as they sit in 17th but are level on points with Nottingham Forest in 18th.

Calvert-Lewin played around 70 minutes in a behind-closed-doors friendly loss against Chester at Finch Farm.

Sean Dyche press conference

Sean Dyche will provide an update on the fitness of Dominic Calvert-Lewin at 1.30pm today ahead of the trip to Crystal Palace on Saturday afternoon.

Calvert-Lewin has been out injured for a number of weeks, but played a part in Everton's loss to Chester at Finch Farm during the week.

Sean Dyche will want to keep him

Alex Iwobi is delaying signing a new deal at Goodison Park as he wants to see where Everton will be playing their football next season, but Sean Dyche will be 'desperate' to keep the former Arsenal midfielder.

“Iwobi has spoken extensively with the club about extending his current contract, but he wants to wait until he knows if the team will play in the Premier League next season.

“His current contract ends in 2024, and as a result of his outstanding performance for the squad in their fight against relegation, he has attracted attention from Premier League teams and other clubs around Europe," as quoted by Soccernet.

Press conference coming soon

Everton boss Sean Dyche will be talking to the media from 1.30pm today at Finch Farm as he previews the Blues' clash with Crystal Palace on Saturday.

After losing 3-1 at home to Fulham last time out, Everton are in dire need of three points as they sit in 17th place - two points away from Leeds in 16th.

Leeds have lost 5-1 and 6-1 in their last two outings and Everton need to capitalise on that awful form.

Time to have your say

As Everton fasn, you have a say and now it is your turn to vote on the relegation battle. Will the Blues survive in what is becoming one of the tightest fights in the Premier League era.

Sean Dyche details Everton challenge for James Garner and Nathan Patterson

Everton manager Sean Dyche has backed James Garner to “grow” as a player but admits that youngsters such as the Birkenhead-born midfielder and defender Nathan Patterson are having to “fast-track” their development in difficult circumstances.

Garner made his first Premier League start for Everton since his move from Manchester United last summer in Saturday’s 3-1 home defeat to Fulham. He was then joined off the bench by Scotland international Patterson – also born in 2001 – and Dyche admits they’re having to learn their trade in difficult circumstances.

He said: “Jimmy applied himself well. It’s tough walking into the Premier League, especially in a performance like that, but he kept at it, kept trying to do well, kept trying to do the basics."

Everton 'could' revive Beto interest

Everton have reportedly been told that Beto is "ready to leave" his current club, according to Tutto Udinese.

The Italian outlet has claimed that the time has come for the Udinese striker to part ways from the Serie A outfit.

The Blues supposedly made an 'important offer' for the Brazilian and were ready to pay €25m (£22m) in a bid to plug the gap left by Dominic Calvert-Lewin's injury.

Should Everton survive the drop, it is anticipated that they will revive interest and Beto is ready to 'make the leap'.

Rivals keen on Joaquin Correa swoop - reports

Reports argue Everton will face competition for transfer target Joaquin Correa.

Correa has been linked with a switch to Goodison Park when the market reopens.

But there could be several other Premier League sides in for his signature.

Italian publication Sport Witness underline interest from Aston Villa, Everton and West Ham as they get ready to queue up for the £13million-rated Argentina forward. Inter Milan signed Correa, 28, for around double that amount last summer.
