Ex-UFC champion cashed out $122k after betting on brother to win his title fight

It's safe to say ex-UFC Lightweight champion Anthony Pettis had a Friday night to remember last week.

The 36-year-old, who last fought for Dana White's promotion back in 2020, was watching his younger brother Sergio Pettis' Bellator 297 bout against Patricio Pitbull.

Heading into the match-up, Sergio was seeking to defend his Bantamweight World Championship title against long-time Bellator fighter Pitbull.

And that's exactly what the younger Pettis did, defeating his opponent via a unanimous decision to defend his crown and move his fighting record to 23-5.

However, Sergio wasn't the only one left celebrating his impressive win. In fact, brother Anthony might have been left celebrating even harder than his little brother.

Prior to the Bellator bout, Anthony lumped on a huge $50,000 bet on his brother to best Pitbull - which eventually saw land winnings of $122k when Sergio won.

Taking to Twitter after the fight, Anthony tweeted out a picture of his bet, tagging in his brother with five money bag emojis, clearly delighted with how his evening had gone.

And a host of fighting fans were quick to give both brothers praise following the fight, with some congratulating Anthony on his huge bet, whilst others gave Sergio his flowers for his title defence victory.

One fan wrote: "Quick and easy little 72k off your little bro. Life's good, congrats Pettis bros." Another added: "Your brother did absolutely phenomenal. Congratulations."

A third said: "That's how you do it! Congrats to the Pettis bros!"

A fourth commented: "Sick! His brother won and he made $72k, hope we all have a day as good as Anthony Pettis."
