Exploring options for Rockets’ 2023 draft pick from Bucks

The NBA draft is taking place in a few months. The Houston Rockets have been the worst team in the NBA for two consecutive seasons. They will be bringing two rookies to the team following the next draft. Rockets own the Bucks' 2023 draft pick as a result of having lent them P.J. Tucker for the 2020-2021 postseason.

The Rockets are interested in trading their 2023 draft pick from the Bucks for Anthony Black. The Bucks are unlikely to make a serious offer for Black, but they can't rule out a disastrous season.

Rockets are looking for a player to play with Alperen Sengun and Tari Eason. Black is a good passer and a potential lottery pick. He struggles with his jump shot and is not an elite athlete. If he doesn't improve, he will probably be picked in the 12-18 range.

The Rockets should look at Baba Miller, Leonard Miller and Rayan Rupert as project players. Babi Miller is a 6’11”, 205-pound wing who will play for Florida State next season. Leonard has a more projectable three-point stroke. Raya Rupert is 6'7“, shooting guard who plays for the New Zealand Breakers this year. Like Ousmane Dieng, Rupert can't finish through contact and his shot is question mark. He's also a bit uncoordinated. The Rockets will see if he can improve his stock playing in the G-League Ignite this season with Scoot Henderson.

Kentucky's Oscar Tshiebwe is a 6'9" and 255 lbs big man. FC Barcelona's James Nnaji is 6', 225 lbs and plays mainly on defense. Rockets are looking for a player to replace their 2023 draft pick from Bucks.

Rockets are looking for a player to pick up from Bucks in the 2023 draft. They are considering Florida State’s Matthew Cleveland, UCLA's Amari Bailey, Arkansas‘ Jordan Walsh and Michigan”s Emoni Bates.  Bates was the presumptive second-overall pick behind Wembanyama, but his poor season ruined his stock.
