Facile Vega Supreme Novices' Hurdle Odds: Mullins Horse 2/1 Fav

The Cheltenham Festival gets underway on Tuesday 14th March, with the Supreme Novices’ Hurdle kicking everything off. As we embark on yet another year at Cheltenham, the Willie Mullins trained Facile Vega heads the market as the betting favourite to win the first race of the 2023 Cheltenham Festival.

Facile Vega Supreme Novices’ Hurdle Odds

Ahead of the 2023 Cheltenham Festival, Willie Mullins is yet again the bookies favourite to be the ‘Top Trainer’ for a fifth consecutive year. The legendary Irish trainer has an incredible 88 wins at the Cheltenham Festival over the years, and will be looking for his 89th in the very opening race on Tuesday.

Mullins trains the current betting favourite in the Supreme Novices’ Hurdle – Facile Vega.

The 6-year-old gelding currently heads the market at odds of around 2/1 with the best horse racing betting sites. Facile Vega won his first six racing starts in 2021 and 2022 and has went off as the favourite in each of his six starts as a racehorse.

Last time out, he did have a bit of a blip with a fifth place finish last time at Leopardstown. However, this was due to a few uncanny mistakes before he eased when lost fourth run-in. However, due to his performances before that, he is rightfully the betting favourite here.

The Irish gelding has won at Cheltenham before, at the Festival last year in the Champion Bumper by fourth lengths. He certainly looks a strong horse and looks the one to beat here in the Supreme Novices’ Hurdle.

In terms of Cheltenham odds, Facile Vega could well shorten as the Supreme Novices’ Hurdle race approaches. He is by far the most eye-catching horse in the race and has backed that up with some incredible runs recently for Mullins under jockey Paul Townend.

Two other Mullins’ horses in Impaire Et Passe and Il Etait Temps could be Facile Vega’s biggest threats, along with Barry Connell’s Marine Nationale.

Mullin’s 6-year-old is the betting favourite, with fellow legendary trainer Nicky Henderson not entering any of his horses in the 13.30 on Day 1. However, you can still check out Willie Mullins vs Nicky Henderson head-to-head racing stats and net worth
