The Cheltenham Festival gets underway on Tuesday 14th March, with the Supreme Novices’ Hurdle kicking everything off. Marine Nationale Supreme Novices’ Hurdle Odds

The first race of the 2023 Cheltenham Festival gets underway on Tuesday 14th March. The first race takes place at 1.30pm, with the Supreme Novices’ Hurdle taking centre stage. This Grade 1 race is one of the biggest on the opening day of the Festival, and there are some fantastic horses on show in the opener.

One of the standout horses in the opener is the second favourite in the Supreme Novices’ Hurdle – Marine Nationale.

The 6-year-old gelding currently sits at second favourite at odds of around 4/1 with the best horse racing betting sites. Marine Nationale has had five starts as a racehorse, winning all of them.

Last time out, Marine Nationale won impressively by a head at Fairyhouse in his first Grace 1 race. Jockey Michael O’Sullivan was on board the gelding that day, running really well for the entire duration of the two-miles. Therefore due to his performances last year, he is rightfully amongst the betting favourites here.

The Irish horse has never raced at Cheltenham before, but has won four different courses in Ireland and looks like a top notch horse. He certainly looks a strong horse and looks like one of the ones to beat here in the Supreme Novices’ Hurdle.

In terms of Cheltenham odds, Marine Nationale’s odds could well shorten as the Supreme Novices’ Hurdle race approaches. He is the second most eye-catching horse in the race, behind the Willie Mullins trained Facile Vega.

Two other Mullins’ horses in Impaire Et Passe and Il Etait Temps could be Marine Nationale’s biggest threats, along with Facile Vega of course as the betting favourite.

Trainer Barry Connell is aiming to win his first race ever at the Cheltenham Festival, and he certainly has a great chance in the opener here on Day 1 with Marine Nationale.

Back Marine Nationale in the Supreme Novices’ Hurdle at 4/1 odds with 888Sport.
