Family affair for the Hamiltons as Into Overdrive lands Meyrick Handicap Chase

Into Overdrive won the William Hill Rowland Meyrick Handicap Chase.

Into Overdrive won the William Hill Rowland Meyrick Handicap Chase. It was the fifth win in six starts for the horse owned by Michael Hamilton and his wife Wendy. The winner was ridden by their son Jamie. Shan Blue was pulled up before the 11th fence.  Intro Overdrives is now rated too high for his original target. He could be considered for a Grand National next year. His trainer Mark Walford is delighted for local yard.  The 5-2 favourite Shan blue was reported never to be travelling by Sean Quinlan.

Ben Sutton rode his first winner under rules on Santos Blue, owned by his father Nick. The stewards allowed the result to stand after a lengthy inquiry into interference on the run-in. He is grateful to his dad for giving him the opportunities.

Tim Easterby has been coming to Wetherby on Boxing Day since before he can remember. He has won the novice handicap chase in 2021 and this time he went one better with a one-two in the same race. Beat The Edge lost momentum and was overtaken by the trainer's son William aboard stablemate Court At Slip (10-1).
