FanDuel: Bet on the NHL and get $200 for Red Wings games

The NHL season is fully in swing, and the Red Wings head back home to Detroit for a Wednesday night matchup against the Pittsburgh Penguins. Both teams are 2-1 so far. Though Detroit has the home ice, it’s Pittsburgh getting the oddsmakers’ pick.

The Red Wings are coming off a shutout road win against the Columbus Blue Jackets on Monday. Detroit prevailed 4-0, with Andrew Copp, Shayne Gostisbehere, Dylan Larkin and Michael Rasmussen burying a goal.

So far this season, they’ve scored nine goals at even strength and four goals while on the power play, putting them 2nd in the NHL on the man advantage.

The team is coming together in a good way, finding chemistry between new and old players. Newcomers like wingers Daniel Sprong, Alex DeBrincat and J.T. Compher have been playing well, while the old-timers like Larkin are the core of Detroit hockey.

Their single loss was a disappointing end to a strong effort, with penalties besting Detroit in the end.

We think on their home ice, with those Michigan fans behind them, the Red Wings have a great shot on Wednesday.

The Penguins are also coming off a win and have also come out as a strong team in their first three games so far. On Saturday, they beat the Calgary Flames 5-2, with goals by Jake Guentzel, Evgeni Malkin, Bryan Rust (2) and Reilly Smith.

Their loss to the Chicago Blackhawks showed some weaknesses, though. They lost 4-2 to a team that isn’t projected to make the playoffs. Pittsburgh is clearly still working out their line combinations, but have been solid so far and should be a challenge for Detroit given their top-end skill.

Listen, Detroit hasn’t given us any reason to think they can take this one at home. Sure, they’ll be on a lot less rest than Pittsburgh, but they’re gelling as a team and should be able to keep Pittsburgh from winning by two or more.

And that’s all we need for this bet.

Once again, sign up on FanDuel and bet $5 to get $200 in bonus bets for Red Wings hockey.
