Following an ugly loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers last Sunday, the Seattle Seahawks need a win (and a Packers loss) to stay alive in the NFC playoff race.
Seattle is a three-point favorite on the road in Arizona and that’s a fair line. The Seahawks will be fully motivated to win and are still the more talented team, so they should be able to win and cover.
There’s no excusing Seattle’s defensive performance against the Steelers on Sunday, but its offense absolutely gave it a chance to win. Geno Smith threw for 290 yards and a touchdown against a good Pittsburgh defense, connecting with DK Metcalf five times for 106 yards. If Smith and the offense can maintain that same level of play against Arizona, they should have no problem scoring.
The Cardinals deserve all the credit in the world for beating the Eagles in Philadelphia last Sunday, but their defense didn’t prove anything. They still gave up 31 points in that game and now allowing 27.1 points per game, which is second-worst in the NFL. Even though Kyler Murray and the offense will have some success, the defense just doesn’t have the talent to hold up against competent offenses.
Go with the Seahawks to cover as they fight for their postseason future. They can play an uninspired game and still push with a late field goal, too.
