Fann: 3 things I want to see from Mariners after disappointing series loss

The Mariners lost back-to-back games to the Rangers on Saturday and Sunday. Seattle is currently in the No. 2 wild card spot, half a game behind the first-place Blue Jays and a half-game ahead of the third-placed Rays. The team is two games up on the fourth- place Orioles. Next up for Seattle are three games against the Angels starting Monday night in Anaheim.

Ty France is in a slump. France has a .146 average in 41 at-bats since returning from injury. The Mariners' lineup as a whole has been struggling mightily in August. They rank 23rd in on-base percentage, dead-last in batting average on balls in play and 19th in wRC+ at 96.

Seattle lost the series to Texas 5-3. The team's pitching staff has been among the league's best for most of the season. However, the team has dropped to 19th in August. The margin for error is slim given the Seattle's offensive woes.

Jesse Winker has been disappointing this season. He is hitting just .231 in August. His wRC+ against right-handed pitchers has dropped from 178 to 102 year-over-year. If he doesn't improve, he might not be deserving of everyday starts ahead of Sam Haggerty.
