FC Emmen vs Almere
Dutch Eredivisie Playoffs
Date: 11 June 2023, Sunday
Kick-off at 17:00 UK / 18:00 CET
Venue: De Oude Meerdijk (Emmen).

FC Emmen will face a very difficult task on Sunday afternoon when they host Almere in the second leg of the Dutch Eredivisie promotion/relegation playoffs final.

Almere produced a fantastic second-half display on Tuesday night by creating numerous chances in front of Emmen’s goal.

Two of these were converted by Lance Duijvestijn in a twelve-minute blitzkrieg from the Eerste Divisie outfit on the occasion.

Nevertheless, we can by no means underestimate FC Emmen who entered this double-header as the favorites due to the experience of playing the Eredivisie football this year as well as pure quality in their ranks.

FC Emmen also looked impressive in a semifinal double-header against NAC Breda, winning both home and away and scoring four goals in the process.

Almere, on the other side, had to go through extra-time (against Eindhoven) and penalties (against VVV Venlo) drama in quarterfinal and semifinal respectively.

They and lost one and drawn one of two away matches along the way. This is the toughest opponent yet for them in the playoffs and we have plenty of reasons to believe in FC Emmen’s win on Sunday regardless of a great attacking display from Almere five days ago.

FC Emmen vs Almere Head-to-head

  • These two teams also battled it out in the previous term of Eerste Divisie when Emmen claimed four points from two H2H clashes with Almere, keeping two clean sheets in the process.
  • FC Emmen also have 7 wins, 6 draws, and only 3 defeats in the last 16 home outings against Almere.
  • Interestingly, none of the last three H2H meetings between these rivals provided goals at both ends after a streak of four straight BTTS affairs in their clashes.

FC Emmen vs Almere Prediction

We expect a much better overall showing from FC Emmen in the reverse leg in front of their fans. They do posses enough quality to overcome a two-goal deficit and we are very much tempted by the 2.75 odds offered for the hosts to have the lead at the half time and win the match at the end on Sunday.

Almere scored only one goal in two away fixtures in the promotional playoffs. We see the value in backing FC Emmen to win to nil at the attractive 3.25 odds.

  • HT/FT FC Emmen/FC Emmen @ 2.75 (7/4)
  • FC Emmen to win to nil @ 3.25 (9/4) odd.
