Fifa World Cup: England Beat Iran 6-2 In Group B

Fifa World Cup has already been marred by farce. On day one, Qatar's defeat against Ecuador was followed by the traffic chaos and empty seats. Monday brought the sight of Iran goalkeeper Alireza Beiranvand being allowed to carry on with a concussion in his side's eventual 6-2 defeat at the hands of England. Fifa are under the spotlight due to the human rights record of the host nation.

Beiranvand was injured in the eighth minute of the opening Group B clash in Al Rayyan. He collided with Majid Hosseini and was stretchered off. Hossein Hosneini came on in his place. FIFA should have better people to look after players who are concussed. FIFA is not serious about women, migrant workers, LGBTQ+ individuals, players or women.

England beat Iran 6-2 in World Cup Group B.

Fifa's decision to enforce the withdrawal of planned captain’s armbands from nations including England promoting LGBTQ+ causes was a political statement. Harry Maguire went down with a knock to the head and was immediately withdrawn by head coach Gareth Southgate. The officials refused to allow the substitution to take place until after a further passage of play. England went on to hammer Iran as expected. Jude Bellingham, Bukayo Saka, Raheem Sterling, Marcus Rashford, Callum Wilson and Jack Grealish scored for England. Mehdi Taremi scored a late penalty for Iran.
