Fiji vs Georgia prediction and odds: Rugby World Cup 2023

With Australia having picked up only six points from their opening three games, Saturday’s Pool C clash between Fiji and Georgia could well be billed as a quarter final play-off! The Stade de Bordeaux will be the venue for this clash between the second placed side and the fourth placed team, both of who are desperate to follow Wales into the next stage of the 2023 Rugby World Cup.

Fiji vs Georgia match predictions

Many informed rugby fans had Fiji as their wildcard picks for this year’s tournament after a run of impressive results including beating England at Twickenham. They should be far too strong for Georgia.

Fiji to win with a -19 point handicap @ 1/1 (2.00)

Six places in the World Rugby Rankings separate these two sides and we expect Fiji’s superiority to show in both halves in Bordeaux. Georgia will be well organised but do struggle to make much of an impact against the stronger teams and we are predicting that Fiji will will by a margin of 20+ points.

Selesitino Ravutaumada to be first try scorer @ 8/1 (9.00)

The 23 year old winger has made eight runs and six carries so far in the tournament but is yet to find the line. We expect that to change against the Georgian defence. Ravutaumada received the Player of the Match Award after starring in the win over England last month and he is our tip to be the first try scorer on Saturday evening.

Fresh from beating Australia, Georgia should not be much of a hurdle for Fiji

With a spot in the quarter final stage of the 2023 Rugby World Cup still very much up for grabs for Argentina, we expect them to dominate throughout Saturday’s match.

Fiji

There is only one change to the Fiji XV from their win over Australia with head coach Simon Raiwalui looking to maintain the momentum picked up in the 22-15 victory in Saint-Étienne. Waisea Nayacalevu will captain the team once more and we are anticipating a complete performance from the islanders now they have found their stride in the tournament.

Fiji last five:

Fiji 22-15 Australia

Wales 32-26 Fiji

England 22-30 Fiji

France 34-17 Fiji

Japan 12-35 Fiji

Georgia

After losing their opening pool game 35-15 to Australia, Georgia were involved in an 18-18 draw with Portugal last Saturday in the rugby heartland of Toulouse. It could have been a defeat though with Portugal missing a very late penalty! However, there is every chance that this will be Georgia’s toughest clash of the 2023 Rugby World Cup so far, and they will have to be alert from the first whistle to give themselves a chance in this match against Fiji.

Georgia last five:

Georgia 18-18 Portugal

Australia 35-15 Georgia

Scotland 33-6 Georgia

Georgia 22-7 USA

Georgia 56-6 Romania
