Flyers vs Blackhawks Picks, Predictions & Odds Tonight

With Morgan Frost seeing extended playing time down the stretch, sportsbooks aren't accounting for the Philly forward's new role in John Tortorella's offense. Read more in our Flyers vs. Blackhawks betting picks.

The Chicago Blackhawks offense is back with the return of Connor Bedard to the lineup. Still, the losses continue to pile up ahead of tonight’s matchup vs. the visiting Philadelphia Flyers, who are coming off an ugly outdoor loss to the Devils.

Considering John Tortorella's recent decision to shuffle his lines, including pairing center Morgan Frost with Travis Konecny, who is currently enjoying a six-game point streak, Frost may present a favorable betting opportunity in tonight's NHL player props.

I'll break down the latest NHL odds and offer my free NHL picks for Flyers vs. Blackhawks on Wednesday, February 21.

Flyers vs Blackhawks predictions

Morgan Frost has recently centered the top line and the No. 1 power play for the Philadelphia Flyers. Since his bump, the Philly forward is averaging over 19 minutes a game (up from his season average of 15:15), has points in four of five games, and is helping aid Travis Konecny’s six-game point streak.

Frost is paying a healthy -105 to record a point vs. the Chicago Blackhawks, whose 3.56 GAA over the last 30 days ranks in the Bottom 10 of the NHL. The Flyers are also coming off an ugly outdoor loss to the Devils, so there is ample motivation for the hopeful playoff-bound visitors tonight.

The Blackhawks have been playing in some low-scoring games of late, but that has had to do with a no-pulse offense that couldn’t create two-way scoring. Now that Connor Bedard is back, this Chicago offense is much more dangerous and should remain productive in Philly tonight.

Frost and the Philadelphia offense will also get to see Chicago backup Arvid Soderblom who is posting a .871 SV% since January 1. According to MoneyPuck, Soderblom is ranked 68th out of 69 goalies who have played at least 10 games in terms of goals saved above expected per 60 minutes.

With a giant increase in minutes that isn’t fully priced in, getting Frost to record a point at -105 is easily my best bet for tonight's game.

My best bet: Morgan Frost Over 0.5 points (-105 at SIA)

Flyers vs Blackhawks same-game parlay

Morgan Frost Over 0.5 pointsTravis Konecny Over 0.5 points

Over 5.5

Connor Bedard & Nick Foligno each Over 0.5 points

Thanks to a goaltending matchup that will feature two goalies with save percentages below .880 since January 1, there is a good chance at two-way scoring. Chicago has a big advantage with the last change and the Bedard line should get some decent shifts in the offensive zone.

Meanwhile, Frost and Konecny have combined for 15 points over the last five games while Bedard and Foligno have accumulated 10 points in the three contests since Bedard's return.

Flyers vs Blackhawks moneyline and Over/Under analysis

The Flyers have been taking a lot of money this morning. After opening at -200 on the moneyline, they’ve moved to as short as -250 with a total of 6 that has moved towards the Under. Much of that movement is likely coming from the Hawks using a backup in net tonight.

Philly is just 10-10 straight up since January 1, with a negative goal differential of eight goals. The Flyers have also been leaning on rookie netminder Sam Ersson, who has played in 11 of the team’s last 12 games. Over that stretch, he’s 4-6 SU with a dismal .876 SV%. Considering Ersson's recent play, it’s tough to pay the juice on the Flyers tonight.

There's some value in betting on Chicago at +200 on the moneyline, but considering the favorable goalie matchup and the improved offensive capabilities of the Hawks, taking the Over 6 at -105 is the better play.

Over the last 30 days, the Hawks are 31st in expected goals allowed/60 at 5-on-5, while the Flyers also rank in the bottom third of the league.
