Under the bright outdoor lights of MetLife Stadium, Travis Konecny will look to lead the Flyers to a big victory over the rival Devils. The Philly forward has been hot since the All-Star Game, and is the focal point of our betting picks tonight.

The Philadelphia Flyers and New Jersey Devils will add another chapter to their storied rivalry with a Stadium Series game at Metlife Stadium tonight. The Devils are slight home favorites on the NHL odds board despite the Flyers being ahead in the standings.

The Flyers are 4-0-1 in their last five games after a five-game losing streak entering the All-Star break. They fought back in the third period to earn a point in Toronto on Thursday night.

On the other hand, the Devils are coming off a home loss to the Kings. New Jersey has been struggling with losses in five of its last eight contests.

Flyers vs Devils predictions

The Philadelphia Flyers have surprised everyone this season and are one of the best stories in the Eastern Conference. They’re in a playoff spot with the trade deadline a few weeks away, and they may not end up selling as many pieces as originally thought.

The Flyers are currently seven points ahead of the New Jersey Devils, who have two games in hand. This is going to be not only a game with a lot of eyes on it due to its location but also one that is important in the standings.

"It's such an important game," Flyers coach John Tortorella said. "I haven't followed where the guys are in the standings in the other games, but this one is right in front of us here. Twenty-plus games left for each team. You can see where the East is. Yeah, and that's what I try to balance. I do not want to disrespect our team or their families. Let them enjoy this, but when that puck is dropped, I know we'll be ready to play because I think they're zeroed in on how important it is."

Travis Konecny is enjoying a great season under Tortorella and knows how important this game is.

"It's something that you circle on the calendar when you find out you're going to be involved in one and try your best to treat it like another game," Konecny said.

This will be the third meeting between these teams after the first two both went to overtime. Each road team has won thus far and it should be a good battle on Saturday night.

"The two games we played against the Flyers went to overtime and both were real hard competitive games," New Jersey coach Lindy Ruff said. "I think the hockey we've been playing has been hard compete. I felt tonight we didn't generate a lot offensively, but we've been missing out on some good opportunities."

The Flyers have been a strong road team all year at 15-7-5. Meanwhile, the Devils struggle at home at 12-13-2. While this isn’t a typical road or home game, the Flyers are the road team in New Jersey tonight.

Philadelphia is a hard team to play against on a nightly basis and tonight will be no different. The Devils are dealing with injuries on defense with top blueliners Dougie Hamilton and Jonas Siegenthaler sidelined. With netminder Vitek Vanecek also out, it’ll be youngster Nico Daws (5-6-0, 2.93 GAA, .909 SV%) getting the nod.

Rookie goalie Samuel Ersson will start between the pipes for the Flyers. Ersson has played well for most of the year with a few tough starts at the very beginning of the season and again right before the break. Overall, he’s 15-9-4 with a 2.55 GAA and .900 SV%.

Going back to Konecny, the Flyers forward leads the team with 51 points (26 goals) in 55 games. He’s riding a five-game point streak (with nine points in that span) after three games off the scoresheet. Konecny has recorded a point in 35 of 55 games this season (63.63%), including in both games against the Devils.

Take Konecny to shine bright and record a point in this outdoor game on Saturday night.

My best bet: Travis Konecny Over 0.5 points (-165 at BetMGM)

Flyers vs Devils same-game parlay

Flyers moneylineTravis Konecny 3+ shots on goal

Travis Konecny anytime goal

We’re sticking with a Travis Konecny theme for this same-game parlay. The All-Star has been on a tear recently and we’re counting on that to continue tonight.

Konecny has four goals in five games since the All-Star break and has a knack for showing up in big spots. He’s been shooting the puck a lot with at least three shots on goal in six straight games — and in 17 of his past 20 games (73 total shots).

The Flyers shouldn’t be as big of underdogs in this game — or perhaps underdogs at all. Let’s back Konecny to lead the Flyers to victory as one of the goalscorers against Jersey.

Flyers vs Devils moneyline and Over/Under analysis

The Devils odds opened at -162 but they’ve moved down to -145 (BetMGM). In turn, the Flyers are between +120 (BetMGM) and +130 (FanDuel) after opening at +134.

There could be some line movement based on Saturday's injury reports. The Flyers are expecting Sean Couturier to play with Cam York questionable due to a possible concussion. Both players practiced on Friday, though, which can’t be said for Rasmus Ristolainen and Tyson Foerster, who are both expected to miss the game.

The total opened at 6.5 with the Under favored and the line still reflects that. You can get Over 6 (-117 via betPARX) and Under 6 (+100 via BetMGM) or Over 6.5 (+105 via DraftKings) and Under 6.5 (-120 via FanDuel).

Outdoor games do tend to see less scoring so I would lean to the Under 6 at even money.
