Former Premier League referee speaks out on VAR controversies in Qatar World Cup

Mark Halsey has called for a change to the way VAR is used at the World Cup. He believes that the people watching the games should be able to hear the conversations between Var and the referees.  Iran were awarded a penalty in their game against England after John Stones pulled an attacker's shirt.

"The time is coming when we need to hear the conversation between the referee and VAR. Fans and pundits may not like the outcome of decisions, but at least we know what they're looking at, how they got there and why they are giving it."

Mark Halsey is calling for VAR to be introduced in football. He was unhappy with the actions of Raphael Claus, who took charge of England's win over Iran. Halleys believes Claus should have been more consistent in his decision-making. He also thinks Var should not have intervened with John Stones incident at the end of the game. The rugby tackle on Harry Maguire was an obvious penalty.
