Fourth annual Human Horse Races to grace Easton Park on Thanksgiving

For the fourth year, Human Horse Races offers a whimsical alternative to the traditional Thanksgiving Day gatherings at the track.

Held in Easton Park, a humbler setting than the venerable Fair Grounds Race Track, the Human Horse Races features races, betting, a vegan food truck, cocktails, a live band — plus fabulous hats and costumes. The races consist of costumed human horses sprinting their jockeys to the finish line.

Creative headgear as well aggressive betting are encouraged. Bettors purchase betting tokens to place donation bets on the horse you think will win the following round.

Participants in dazzling attire can enter an array of costume contests. Or just come out to enjoy the holiday with neighbors and friends.<

The event features live music by the Dapper Dandies, and food and beverages are available. The Louisiana Humane Society will present a Vegan Village, promising a delectable realm of local vegan treats.

Human Horse Races is organized by the House of Harmony. The event helps Louisiana horse sanctuaries meet baseline needs such as food, shelter, and medical care. The 2023 beneficiary will be Greeno Equine Sanctuary in Leblanc, Louisiana.
