Wednesday 23rd August Frankie Dettori York Rides

3:00pm Sky Bet Great Voltigeur Stakes Group 2 1m4f ITV: Gregory @ 5/4

The first of the Frankie Dettori York rides on Wednesday will see him reunite with GREGORY once again as the market favourite in the Voltigeur Stakes. John and Thady Gosden’s three-year-old is unbeaten with three wins in three starts, and there is no reason why he can’t stretch that run even further.

The Queen’s Vase winner will look to put a strong hold on his St Leger claims in this trial and he is already the betting favourite for the Doncaster Classic in September.

This Gosden-trained colt has a fascinating pedigree and can only improve, and looks the one to beat here despite a 3lb penalty.

3:35pm Juddmonte International Stakes (British Champions Series Race) Group 1 1m2f ITV: Mostahdaf @ 9/4

The second and final ride in the Frankie Dettori York rides on Wednesday is MOSTAHDAF in the Group 1 Juddmonte International.

John and Thady Gosden’s five-year-old has not been seen since his Group 1 success in the Prince of Wales’s Stakes at Royal Ascot in June, and his freshness could pose a real threat to odds-on favourite Paddington, who has had a busy summer so far.

Frankie has won the Juddmonte five times, but his last victory in this race was on Authorized 16 years ago. The Shadwell-owned Baaeed won this last year, and connections are expecting another big race from Mostahadaf in the famous blue and white silks.

This horse showed an excellent turn of foot last time out, eventually winning at 10/1 by four lengths and it looks like this 1m2f trip is ideal for the son of Frankel.
