Freezing Up In New Mexico? Jockey Suspended 30 Days For 'Failure To Ride Out His Mount'

Hector Aldrete has been suspended for 30 days and fined $2,500 for riding out his horse Starlite Eagle in the 5th race at the Downs at Albuquerque on Sept. 18, 2022. The jockey stood up 1/16th of a mile before the finish, causing the horse to drop from 3rd place to 6th place. Aldret's suspension is scheduled to run from Oct. 23 through Nov. 22.
